[International] Study Abroad in Cuba

Dear International Listserv Member:

You may want to consider one of these two study abroad tours to Cuba (don't worry--traveling to Cuba for educational purposes is perfectly legal!!!):

Comparative Globalization in Mexico & Cuba (January 4 ~ January 18, 2004).
This study program compares two very different countries to generate a new discussion about globalization and resulting borders and migration from the perspective of Cuba and Mexico. We will travel to Havana, Cuba and Oaxaca, Mexico to discern first-hand the complex effects of globalization on culture, political systems, economic development, and, more generally, human well-being. We will read two novels, poems, and various articles related to the theme of this course. We will discuss observations and readings in daily meetings, analytical notebooks, and narrative essays. Don't miss this rare opportunity to participate in this exciting, comparative program.  For more information, contact Overseas Programs and Partnerships at UW-Milwauee, 414-229-5182, http://www.uwm.edu/Dept/CIE/OPP/programs.html.

Introduction to Cuban Arts & Culture (January 3-18, 2004)
Earn 3 credits and study at the famed Ludwig Foundation in Cuba.  Travel to Trinidad and a rural environmental center, among other locations.  For more information, contact Maureen Reilly, UW-Baraboo/Sauk County, (608) 356-8351 ext 234, http://www.uwosh.edu/oie/pdf%20files/04cuba-descrip.pdf (although this is a UW Oshkosh web address, this is not a UW Oshkosh program--contact Maureen Reilly directly with any questions).

UW Oshkosh students planning to study through either of these programs should contact the Office of International Education at UW Oshkosh regarding credit transfer issues, financial aid, etc. before applying.  424-0185/Demspey 337
