[International] UW OSHKOSH GLOBAL VILLAGE
Dear International Listserv Members:
FIRST ANNUAL UW OSHKOSH GLOBAL VILLAGE
Sponsored by International Student Association, Office of
International Education, and the Department of Residence Life
Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 5 ? 8 pm
Dear Friends:
It is with great enthusiasm, we invite you to join in UW Oshkosh?s first
annual Global Village, an international celebration of the art, crafts,
music, dance, and traditions of the world. The goal of this free
event is to celebrate, explore, and learn about the many different
cultures represented on the UW Oshkosh campus as well as the Fox Valley.
As this is the first year we have put this together, we are seeking out
your assistance. This year, we have space for 20 booths/exhibit areas and
a stage in the center for performances (to perform on the half hour). Our
goal is to have artists selling original works of art (all proceeds to
the seller), hands-on children?s activities, crafts, food, and
information on programs in the Fox Valley to assist in international
issues. We will be conducting a money drive to raise funds for Refugee
Assistance. This event will be open to the public and free to
attend.
We are seeking organizations and individuals to run a booth/exhibit area
(free ? no rental costs) and to perform on the center stage. Because this
is the first year, we will NOT be able to pay any performer for his/her
time, however, will allow for publicity to be distributed at the event.
We also need donations to help fund some of the booths of the UW Oshkosh
students. We have students interested in henna, crafts, and hair
braiding, but are unable to afford the cost of the supplies for so many
attendees. We gladly accept donations to assist in the costs of the
program. If you are a company, organization, or person who would like to
make a donation, please contact Kristine McCaslin at the information
below.
We would like to sell a recipe book with the favorite recipes from
members of the Fox Valley international community to also benefit the
refugee organizations. If you have a recipe you would like to contribute,
please email it to Kristine McCaslin at
mccaslin@mio.uwosh.edu, along
with your name, country, and if there is one, a story behind the
recipe.
The Festival will be on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 from 5 pm to 8 pm in
Reeve Union Ballroom on the UW Oshkosh campus. Please contact one of the
individuals below for applications for booth/exhibit space and performer
information.
Sincerely,
Lyubov
