[International] Global Volunteerism event

Dear International Listserv Members:

Fox Valley Technical College is hosting an event to promote volunteerism at home and around the globe.  Volunteerism is an excellent way for students to network and develop leadership and job skills, as
well as to serve the community. Those who volunteer abroad also gain important cultural insight and learn to think about issues from a more global perspective. The event, sponsored by the Student Life Center, will feature the presentations of two volunteers who have served in very different areas of the world.

Returned Peace Corps Volunteer Tammy Duve will present highlights of her experience in Ghana, Africa as an agribusiness volunteer. During her service from 2000 - 2002, Duve worked with local women on soybean farming projects and helped dig a community well. Since returning from Ghana, Duve has been employed as the 4-H Youth
Development Agent for Green Lake County.

As part of a Thrivent Financial for Lutherans corporate team, Greg Retzlaff journeyed to Cluj, Romania to build homes with Habitat for Humanity's Global Village program. Retzlaff will share how that powerful1 1-day experience opened his eyes and is molding his future volunteer plans. Retzlaff is a systems analyst at Thrivent in Appleton.

The presentation will be held on Monday, April 17 at 12:30 p.m. in Room F108 at the FVTC Appleton Campus. Information will be available on the Peace Corps, Habitat for Humanity, and many other local and
global volunteer opportunities. This event is open to the public.
