[International] Intensive Spanish in Cuernavaca, Mexico
Dear Student:
You are receiving this message either because you are a member of the
INTERNATIONAL listserv or because you indicated an interest in the UW
Oshkosh-sponsored study abroad program "Intensive Spanish in
Cuernavaca, Mexico."
Join other students from UW Oshkosh and from around the world for
language and culture courses and workshops taught at
Cuauhnáhuac Spanish Language
Institute! Students focus on grammar and language practice,
participate in guided conversations, and learn situational Spanish or
involve themselves in cultural conferences daily. Weekly excursions to
important historical and cultural sites and a homestay opportunity round
out the experience.
Students may also volunteer to work with Mexican children from low-income
neighborhoods. The program is geared towards establishing a relationship
with the children and teaching them some English.
Cuauhnáhuac Spanish Language Institute is located in
Cuernavaca,
Morelos, México, about 1 1/2
hours from México City. It is housed in a former residence with beautiful
green gardens, a swimming pool, a volleyball / basketball court and
patios for relaxing and enjoying spring-like temperatures all year round.
It's the perfect place to be during a Wisconsin winter! The
administration building includes a computer lab, a reference library, a
large living room, and a lecture hall. A quaint restaurant offers a
varied menu of typical Mexican meals. The school also organizes
occasional gatherings and cultural activities such as craft workshops,
conversation language exchanges, and movie nights.
Students who wish to attend Cuauhnáhuac Spanish Language Institute for an
additional week or two before/after the official program may earn one
additional credit per week.
Program fees are currently estimated at $2,830 ~ $3,110 based on
12-20 participants. There are no additional tuition costs. The more
students who sign up for this program, the lower the cost per student
will be. You can help lower your cost to study abroad by recruiting
friends and classmates to join you in this experience! For
information on what these program fees cover and for an estimate of other
expenses associated with the program (e.g. passport fees, meal costs,
etc.), see
