[International] Penn State Job Posting (INTLJOB)

EDUCATION ABROAD ADVISOR
Affiliated with the Education Abroad (EA) area within Penn State's Office of International Programs, the Education Abroad Adviser (EAA) provides information to students on the availability, value, and academic appropriateness of international education programs. The EAA reports to the Director of Education Abroad and works closely with EA's academic coordination area. The EAA is expected to be committed to the field of international education and to be comfortable with information technology. Responsibilities are varied and include a mix of the
following: preparing and updating information on Penn State's EA programs; advising students both in one-on-one and group sessions; organizing promotional strategies; addressing groups of students, parents, and faculty; coordinating student exchange programs; advising on financial aid; responding to inquiries about study abroad; orienting peer advisers; preparing pre-departure information and orientation sessions; keeping in touch with students while they are overseas and responding to their questions; participating in re-entry sessions.
Requires Master's degree or equivalent, plus three months of work-related experience. Experience with StudioAbroad, Microsoft Access, Excel, FrontPage, Outlook, Word, Web page design, and desktop publishing are highly desirable. Experience in orientation and re-entry programming preferred. Excellent communication and organizational skills and international experience are essential. Ability to communicate persuasively, attentiveness to detail, and ability to handle several tasks at once are valuable assets for this job.
