Capstone International Center at The University of Alabama invites applications for the position of Overseas Study Advisor in International
Academic Programs. The Overseas Study Advisor supervises all aspects
of academic advising for students regarding the process and procedure for pursuing overseas study and for assisting students with determining the appropriate overseas study placement to meet their academic needs; responsible for advising students regarding reciprocal exchange and study abroad; responsible for upkeep of the Overseas Study Resource Center; and assists the Director of Overseas Study with marketing, recruitment, publications, study abroad fairs, and pre-departure orientations.
Qualifications include: a bachelor's degree in international studies, education, communications, foreign language, business, or other relevant discipline and a minimum of one year of work experience in higher education, business, industry, or government. Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to work with culturally and linguistically diverse students, faculty, and administrators; basic proficiency with keyboarding and with using both word processing and database management software on a desk top computer; excellent public relations skills; willingness to travel occasionally on domestic and/or international trips for periods lasting up to several days per trip; ability to multitask effectively; excellent organizational skills; excellent interpersonal skills. Additional preferred qualifications:
master's degree in student personnel administration, international studies, education, communications, foreign language, or other relevant discipline, and overseas travel experience.
