[International] Program Specialist Jobs-Uconn (INTLJOB)



 Dear International Listserv Members:

The Office of Study Abroad seeks to fill two Program Specialist I positions to participate in all aspects of study abroad advising and recruitment.  Under the supervision of the Director of Study Abroad, the successful candidate will: 
advise students in one or more regions of the world on all aspects of study abroad opportunities, including application process, course selection, receiving academic credit, grade reporting, finances, and safety; assist the Study Abroad Office to work with individual academic units to achieve curricular integration between course work taken overseas and on-campus course work, especially departmental major and minor requirements; assist the efforts of the Study Abroad Office in the recruitment of prospective students through various outreach events, including information sessions, study abroad fairs, classroom visits, and admissions events.  Assist incoming exchange students with arrival, registration, on-campus housing, visa processing, and other related issues; train faculty resident directors in financial, academic and logistical responsibilities involved in leading study abroad programs; assist in the planning, development, design implementation and evaluation of activities to achieve program objectives. e.g., program evaluations, peer advisors training, and re-entry workshops; conduct studies, collects necessary data, evaluates information, and prepares analytical reports related to program specialty.  Play significant role in the design and maintenance of the study abroad website to make sure that it is accurate and up to date; assist in producing well-written and visually appealing online brochures for all study abroad programs; interact with third-party study abroad providers and other international partners on logistical issues pertaining to potential study abroad students, incoming exchange students; students currently studying abroad; and study abroad returnees; perform related duties to support general mission of dramatically increasing the number of students who study abroad.

Minimum Qualifications:  Candidates for this position must have a Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience; two to four years professional experience in field; excellent oral and written communication skills; strong administrative skills; computer skills, including MSWord, PowerPoint; MSExcel, and PhotoShop.  

Preferred Qualifications:  Master's degree; knowledge of website design; fluency in a second language.

These are two full-time, permanent positions. Preference will be given to applications received by July 28, 2008. The proposed start date is August 15, 2008.
