Dear International Listserv Members:
Immediate Position Opening: Admissions Counselor Organization for Tropical Studies (OTS) OTS seeks to appoint an Admissions Counselor who will be responsible for the recruiting and selection of qualified students for admission to all OTS graduate and undergraduate programs.
Organizational Relationships:
Reports to: Director, Enrollment Management Coordinates with: Vice President for Global Programs and Partners. Works closely with all levels of professional staff and faculty within the organization both domestically and abroad. Develops and maintains liaison with higher education institutions as appropriate for the recruitment of a diverse student population.
Maintains liaison with nationally recognized professional organizations.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
* Implement recruiting and admissions strategies; this will include travel throughout the United States to conduct campus visits, participate in study abroad fairs and represent OTS at study abroad conferences.
* Implement marketing strategies for all of the OTS Education Programs.
This may
include campus postering, student phone calls, e-mail campaigns and others as developed.
* Manage all student inquires. Communicate directly with students from their initial inquiry to participation in an OTS course and as Alumni.
* Manage and track student applications including all forms required by OTS and Duke University.
* Facilitate the evaluation and awarding of financial aid to students.
* Transfer student information to appropriate OTS programs and staff.
* Accurately maintain individual travel budget.
* Maintain detailed files on all recruiting activities.
* Actively participates in all staff training and development events.
Maintains
positive attitude and displays willingness to be an effective team member.
* Complete all administrative tasks in organized and timely manner.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor?s degree (preferably in Environmental Science or Ecology) and 2 years experience in international education or study abroad.
* Ability to be an effective team member and to work alone.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Highly organized with ability to multi-task.
* Computer proficient.
* Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes extensive travel during peak recruiting seasons.
* Ability to speak Spanish an asset.
