 Dear International Listserv Members:

The University of South Carolina is currently seeking candidates for Study Abroad Advisor.

 

The study abroad advisor is a professional position in the International Programs Office at USC.  The advisor performs a variety of duties in support of the recruitment, placement, orientation, and re-entry of USC students interested in education abroad opportunities. Essential Job Functions:

Advises USC students about study, research, intern, volunteer, and teach abroad opportunities.  Assists students in identifying the appropriate program of study and sources of funding, as well as academic planning.  Provides administrative support for study abroad programs at USC by facilitating application processes for incoming and outgoing exchange students

 

Promotes study abroad both on and off campus; markets study abroad using a variety of formats including classroom presentations and special events; develops printed and web based materials as needed.    

 

Conducts workshops and presentations on financial aid, scholarship opportunities, overseas program options, pre-departure orientation and reentry for study abroad students.  Assumes responsibility for providing study abroad recruitment and administrative support to special populations and programs as assigned.  

 

Requirements: 

Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of two years of relevant professional work experience; experience advising college students; outstanding written and oral communication skills; experience studying abroad; and strong computer and presentation skills.  Preferred qualifications: Master's degree; study abroad advising experience; promotion or marketing experience; foreign language skills; and academic degree related to international education.
