Special Programs Coordinator/Study Abroad Advisor Office of International & Study Abroad Programs Fordham University July 2008
The Office of International & Study Abroad Programs at Fordham University is seeking a Special Programs Coordinator/Study Abroad Advisor to join the office. Members of the ISAP staff work collaboratively, and cover a wide range of responsibilities. The main responsibilities of this Coordinator/Advisor position include, but may not be limited to, the
following:
London Dramatic Academy: the Special Programs Coordinator will answer basic questions from prospective students and other universities about Fordham's LDA, a semester-long program for theater students in London. The Special Programs Coordinator would also facilitate communication between the London Centre and ISAP, when necessary.
Study tours: the Special Programs Coordinator, working closely with the ISAP Director, would be a primary contact with faculty leaders, develop and promote study tour information (flyers, website postings, etc.), and assist with logistics (insurance for participants, payments, reimbursements, travel arrangements for the group).
Study abroad advising: the Special Programs Coordinator will participate in student advising (with a specific regional focus) and be an integral member of the SAB Review Committee. Occasionally, the Special Programs Coordinator will represent ISAP at university-wide events as well as professional conferences/events.
Education: Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred.
Competencies Required: Previous experience studying abroad at the
undergraduate level and a minimum of one-year experience in university-level study abroad office. Experience working with faculty and short-term programs. Knowledge of basic principles and issues of study abroad advising. Strong oral and written communication skills, including inter-cultural and interpersonal communication; the ability to interact with study abroad program representatives, faculty and students in a highly professional manner with an understanding of protocols and confidentiality.
Evidence of strong organizational, administrative and computer skills.
Experience working with databases (specifically Excel), Word, e-mail and the Internet.
Start date: As soon as possible
Salary range: 33-38K
This is a full-time, twelve-month temporary position with the possibility of becoming permanent.
