About The Study
Abroad Foundation (SAF):
SAF is a non-profit organization founded in 2000 to provide quality overseas study opportunities, plus academic and personal support services, for qualified undergraduate students from Mainland China, Taiwan, Japan and Korea who seek to earn academic credit through study abroad.  SAF participants have the opportunity to study abroad at approximately 50 university partners in the US & Canada, UK & Ireland and Australia & New Zealand.  


Position Overview:
The Japan Program Coordinator will facilitate the enrollment of undergraduate study abroad students from Japan (and periodically from Mainland China, Taiwan and Korea) at SAF affiliated or host universities and colleges in the US & Canada, UK & Ireland, Australia & New Zealand.  Responsibilities include processing applications, liaising with our overseas offices and affiliated universities, creating relevant program materials and program fee sheets, responding to student and parent questions, and the provision of personal, cultural, academic, and emergency advice and assistance for the duration of participants study abroad experience.

Essential Duties and
Responsibilities to Include: 

Work
     closely with the SAF offices overseas sharing information and promptly
     responding to inquiries regarding student placement, acceptance criteria,
     application deadlines, etc.Accurately
     input applicant data into the SAF student databaseCreate,
     organize and ensure integrity of applicant's paper filesScreen,
     review and submit applications to SAF host universitiesFollow-up
     with host universities to facilitate quick turn-around on student
     acceptancesEnsure
     timely and organized delivery of information and materials to SAF offices
     overseas, and SAF host universities.Secure
     participant housing, orientation participation, class registration, and
     arrival coordination.Create,
     revise and review pre-departure orientation materials and on-site communication
     sequence including emergency protocolProvide
     prompt on-site student support services via phone and emailProvide
     after hours student support services as neededCoordinate
     and participate in SAF orientation programs as requiredWork
     with SAF accounting staff to determine and finalize fees for Japan
     programs



Qualifications:

BA/BS
     required with 1 to 3 years of professional experience preferred in study
     abroad, international student advising, international admission, or
     English language program administrationFluent
     spoken and written Japanese and EnglishStudy
     abroad participation or experience living or working overseas.Adept
     at prioritizing and multi-taskingDemonstrated
     ability to take initiative, work independently, and exercise good judgment
     in addressing questions and problemsKnowledge
     of Microsoft Office applicationsEnergetic,
     creative with excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication
     skillsStrong
     teamwork skills and an interest in working in and supporting a rapidly
     changing work environment


Work Environment:

Typical
     office environmentWilling
     to perform other duties and requested, directed, or assignedWilling
     to travel in the US
     and abroad as requiredResolving
     emergency situations may require additional work hours
