Award recipients are expected to share their experiences with their home campuses to encourage study abroad in Asia and to spread greater understanding of Asian peoples and cultures within their home

Award amounts for the current application cycle range from a maximum of $5,000 for a semester/quarter program to a maximum of $7,000 for an academic year program. Applicants must currently receive need-based financial aid or demonstrate through FAFSA a verifiable need for financial assistance to study abroad in Asia.
Applicants must also plan to study in one of the following countries and
regions: Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam.

The Freeman-ASIA Program is made possible by the generous support of the Freeman Foundation and is administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE).
