[International] Fall semester in Nicaragua/Costa Rica (GEN)

 Dear International Listserv Members:

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is pleased to announce that we are now accepting applications for our fall program in Costa Rica & Nicaragua.  The program examines urban and rural poverty and allows students to experience two Central American countries.  Students take two Spanish courses at the appropriate level (beginning to advanced) and two courses in English with a Latin American Studies focus.  All students also participate in a two-week service learning opportunity.  Students live with host families in all three locations (Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and during their service learning project).  Program related field trips are also included in the program.  Both the academic courses and the field excursions are planned to introduce students to the many different lives of people living in these two Central American countries.  We ask that you make students and faculty aware of this unique program.  In particular, this program to be of interest to Latin American Studies students, as well as students with interests in social justice.
The priority application deadline is November 17, 2008.  However, after the priority deadline, we will accept students on a rolling basis until the program is full or until January 30, 2009.  Interested students and faculty should contact Susan Lochner at (715) 836-4411 or lochnesa@uwec.edu.
