The Model United
Nations Organization will hold a General Assembly on Thursday, October 9.
in the Reeve Union Ballroom, Room 227AB
Time: 6:30 to 11:45 PM
Note: Opening Statements 6:30-7:30
Deliberations and debate: 7:30 on
The General Assembly provides an opportunity to observe the functioning of
a Model UN Conference, and also facilitates learning more about international
affairs, particularly the divergent views of many nations on current
issues. At the session, student members of the nationally-ranked
UW-Oshkosh Model United Nations Organization will share their knowledge of
international affairs with the campus community by demonstrating the
functioning of a Model UN competition.
At the session each student participant will represent a different nation in
debating and considering resolutions dealing with current world issues.
A number of Alumni from previous Award Winning Teams will participate in this
year's session.
The topics to be debated are:
It can make an interesting evening, particularly with alumni
participating. The session will serve to demonstrate the differing
viewpoints of the participating nations.
Observers are free to come for any part of the session.
All students interested in learning more about Model UN, and/or broadening
their knowledge of world affairs, are invited to attend the session, which is
open to the public.
Students interested in becoming involved in Model UN this year should attend
the General Assembly. Knowledge of its procedures will be essential
to Model UN participation during the remainder of the Academic year.
There is still time to join Model UN, but action now is essential.
