Education is a key factor and driving force in global development and
change. As a result, international education is one of the world?s most
dynamic industries, and looks set to remain so. Recent research forecasts
that global demand for international education will rise from 1.8 million
in 2000 to 7.2 million in 2025. On the surface, the future seems secure.
But what are the challenges to this growth? What are the
implications of this increase in demand? More importantly, what
strategies do we need to implement now in order to manage the
opportunities offered by this growth and secure the success and
prosperity it offers for the future?
Under the theme Securing the Future for International Education:
Managing Growth and Diversity 2003 conference delegates will have the
opportunity to examine the wide-ranging and significant implications of
this enormous increase in demand for international education. The
conference will specifically focus on ways in which institutions,
education organisations, state and national governments can rise to the
challenge of managing the two key issues of the future: growth and
diversity.
