International Student Volunteers coordinates conservation and community
development volunteer work programs for university students. We currently
operate programs in Australia, Costa Rica, the Pacific Northwest of the
USA and Canada, New Zealand, and the Dominican Republic (www.isvonline.com).
We are in need of qualified professors, graduate students or instructors
to lead these student volunteer work teams next summer (May to September
2004) for a minimum time commitment of 4 weeks (2 x 2-week volunteer
work/educational programs). Longer time commitments are welcomed and can
be negotiated for interested staff.
Each volunteer work team will consist of approximately ten university
student from the U.S., U.K. and Canada. The volunteer work programs are
run in collaboration with local conservation and community development
organizations (NGO's), universities and private or governmental groups.
Many of the students who participate in our program earn academic credit
through the University of California Santa Barbara, Extended Learning
Services "Wildlands Studies Program" for their involvement. More
information on our program can be found at our website, www.isvonline.com
If your area of expertise and/or education is in an environmentally
related field or in social community development, and you are interested
in the possibility of leading two or more of our work projects, I would be
very interested in hearing from you as soon as possible.
If you are not available or interested, perhaps you know a qualified
professor, instructor or graduate student who might be? Please inform
them of this opportunity, and forward them my contact information.
Interested persons should e-mail me at faculty2004@isvonline.com (please
write "U.S. FACULTY STAFF" as your subject).
I will respond with the following information:
* A list of projects and locations
* A description of ISV's work and adventure programs
* Requirements for a leader
* Information on academic credits available for students
* Information regarding leader responsibilities & remuneration
Letters of reference and credentials for ISV are available upon request.
This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity. I look forward to your
response.
Sincerely,
Narelle Best
