THIRD SCHREYER NATIONAL CONFERENCE: "INNOVATIONS IN INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION"
MARCH 12-14, 2004
 PENN STATE UNIVERSITY PARK
http://www.outreach.psu.edu/C&I/Schreyerconference/default.asp

Penn State is pleased to invite you to the Third Schreyer National Conference, co-sponsored by the Schreyer Honors College and the Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence at Penn State.  We have an exciting program of speakers and concurrent sessions that will be of special interest to faculty and administrators in international and/or honors education who want to make their honors college or program a center of internationalization on campus.

Our keynote and featured speakers include:
The conference will have ten or more concurrent sessions on themes ranging from "Non-Traditional Destinations" to "Globalization: Challenges and Discontents."  Our Sunday morning roundtable will include three leaders in international education: Nancy Kenyon of the Institute for the International Education of Students (IES), David Larsen of the Center for Education Abroad at Arcadia University, and Regine Lambrech, former Director of International Education at Quinnipiac University.  The closing brunch will provide all participants with an opportunity to offer their thoughts and suggestions for "Future Directions for Internationalizing Honors Education."  The results will be circulated through the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC) and other appropriate venues, as well as through an electronic forum for conference participants.  The conference document will offer direction to honors programs and colleges in designing suitable international experiences for honors undergraduates.

Participants in the 1999 and 2001 Schreyer National Conferences returned to their colleges and universities with new and innovative ideas that have improved honors education, and we are sure that the 2004 conference will be equally useful--even if your interests are not specifically honors-related.  It's an opportunity that you shouldn't miss, and we encourage you to visit the Conference Web site at http://www.outreach.psu.edu/C&I/Schreyerconference/default.asp for more information and to register.

Co-Chairs of the conference are Dr. Cheryl Achterberg, Dean, Schreyer Honors College, and Dr. Renata Engel, Associate Vice Provost for Teaching Excellence.
