[Intl] Beloit College internationalization conference Oct 29-30; Call for Papers

Dear INTL Listserv & Globalization Committee Members:

Beloit College (Beloit, WI) is hosting an internationalization conference
on October 29-30, in partnership with the American Council on Education's
Internationalization Collaborative and the Associated Colleges of the Midwest.

The conference begins after lunch on Friday and concludes after lunch on
Saturday. A related science workshop begins Friday morning, and concludes
on Saturday afternoon. Workshop participants will also participate in the
conference.

Paper proposals are due July 1, with proposals for poster sessions due
September 1. The registration deadline is September 15.

The conference. "New Directions in International Education: Building
Context, Connections and Knowledge," will enable participants to exchange
ideas about new ways of extending and enhancing international education for
our students, both on campus and off. Individuals and campus teams of
faculty, international education professionals, and other administrators
are welcome. Participants from all disciplines are welcome.

The challenge of international education is to create context, connections
and knowledge so that students and institutions of higher education are
better able to engage with our changing world. Meeting this challenge
requires innovative programs and curricula. More information, including
registration information and the call for papers, is available at
http://www.beloit.edu/~oie/conference/

A workshop on "Bringing the Sciences into the Discussion about
International Education" will accompany the conference, beginning Friday
morning before the conference start and concluding Saturday afternoon after
the conference's closing plenary. This small workshop is intended for
Global Partners Project colleges and will bring together science faculty
and international educators (faculty and/or administrators) to discuss the
place of science in international education and international education in
science. Workshop participants will be expected to also participate in the
New Directions in International Education Conference. Priority for
participation goes to members of Global Partners institutions, though
others may participate on a space available basis. Costs of participating
in the workshop will be covered by the Global Partners Project. More
information is available at http://www.beloit.edu/~oie/conference/science.html

Elizabeth Brewer
