[Intl] Summer Research Grants for European Studies in Madison, WI
Dear INTL Listserv Members:
If you know anyone who might be interested, please share this
message...
We
happily announce that the Center for European Studies Program at the
UW-Madison (http://uw-madison-ces.org) has funds
available to support research trips to the UW-Madison during the
summer of 2005. The purpose of these grants is to allow
scholars from four-year and two-year colleges and K-12
schools
to come to Madison for
Europe-related research. Grant recipients must be affiliated
with institutions in Wisconsin and other Upper Midwest states. The
funds will be used to conduct research in the University of Wisconsin
libraries and/or consult with colleagues in European Studies here on the
University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. (For the purposes of this
grant, "European Studies" is defined as research on any topic
related to countries in Western Europe and/or current developments in the
new European Union member states in Eastern Europe).
Two distinct categories of grants are
available:
· Scholar Access Grants, for
college and university faculty.
· WIOC (Wisconsin International
Outreach Consortium) Fellow Grants, for all educators in the K-16
range.
Four grants in the amount of $750 will
be awarded as an honorarium. Grant recipients can use the awards to
cover or defray the cost of transportation to Madison, lodging, library
copying, student assistance, and other costs involved in research and
meeting with colleagues. Lodging usually can be arranged at Lowell
Hall on Langdon Street, near campus, at reasonable rates. Grant
funds must be used during the summer of 2005 and expended in full by
August 14, 2005.
If you are interested, please send a
1-2 page letter of application briefly describing your project and its
relevance to European Studies. Please also specify the dates when
you would like to come to Madison, and the expected duration of your stay
or stays. Please enclose a curriculum vitae. Letters of
application must be received by April 15, 2005.
Sincerely,
Patrick Rumble, Director
