[Intl] CIBER awards
Dear INTL Listserv Members:
I am pleased to inform you of a
funding opportunity through the Center for International Business
Education and Research (CIBER). Two separate CIBER programs
award funds to UW-System faculty and Ph.D. students and Technical College
faculty:
- Global Research and Curriculum Development
- Applied Funds
Funding requests for the
Global
Research/Curriculum Development Program are accepted and reviewed
twice a year: October 1, 2005, and April 1, 2006. Awards in this category
range from $2,000-$7,500.
Funding requests for the
Applied
Funds Program are accepted and reviewed monthly. The next
deadline is October 1, 2005. Requests for funds through this
category should not exceed $2,000.
Preference will be given to biotechnology-related initiatives, projects
related to corporate governance/business ethics, initiatives that
incorporate the use of technology, collaborative and interdisciplinary
projects, and projects that involve faculty working in collaboration with
Ph.D. students. The grant programs are governed by the mandate under
which CIBER receives its funding. Therefore, proposals must be aligned
with the mission of CIBER in order to be considered. Requests for funding
in either program must be connected, in some way, to the themes
below:
- Research projects, events and publications that have bearing on the
competitiveness of U.S. business internationally.
- Internationalizing curriculum for students. Examples include creating
new international-related courses, study abroad and study tour
experiences, or enhancing an existing course with use of new
technology.
- Creating faculty development and enrichment programs for business,
foreign language, and international studies faculty.
- Collaborating with modern foreign language departments to develop
business language courses for students and to provide intensive language
training programs for business persons.
