[Seac] Environment & the Military

Thought I'd pass this along:

Hey folks,
I combed the following articles/resources from Military Toxics Project's istserv (I'm pretty sure you can subscribe to it via:
www.miltoxproj.org/cb/cblist.htm if you're interested--it's not too heavily-trafficked).  Later,  jason

1. Depleted Uranium
Are folks aware that the US military is again using depleted uranium weapons in Iraq (along w/ some other very questionable weapons)? Check out the Int'l Coalition to Ban Uranium Weapons:
www.bandepleteduranium.org Lots of good resources, a petition, and info about their recent day of action. I'd be really interested to hear if there are folks on this list who are working on depleted uranium weapons issues and can help keep the rest of us appraised of how we can help out.

2. Two interesting articles recently featured in Environmental Health Perspectives Online:
http://ehp.niehs.nih.gov/members/2004/112-17/focus.html "Battle Scars: Global Conflicts and Environmental Health" & "The Price of Preparing for War".

3. "*STUDY: Food tests turn up perchlorate [a rocket fuel chemical which can disrupt thyroid function], raising pressure to find out how much danger it poses.*"
