[Seac] Earth Week planning



Proposed & tentative schedule for Earth Week 2005

We have decided on the topics for the five days, but the dates may change depending on availability of speakers. Details for the events will be worked out as time goes on. The topics correspond to the Four Principles of the Earth Charter and the Four Pillars of the Green Party.
 
Monday, April 18: Ecology
Renewable energy (with scientific panel)
National forests
 
Tuesday, April 19: Peace and Nonviolence
Peace and War.
Students from a national tour
 
Wednesday, April 20: Respect and Care for the Community of Life
Sustainable farming and healthy eating
Greening the campus food system
 
Thursday, April 21: Democracy
Mike McCabe, Wisconsin Democracy Campaign (tentative)
Amy Goodman, Democracy Now (tentative)
 
Friday, April 22 (Earth Day): Social Justice (and Ecology)
Tree planting
Critical Mass bicycling
34 Million Friends: Population Issues
 
Saturday, April 23: Day of Action
Clean-up and other service projects
