"PETA protests outside Oshkosh KFC"
Members of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals protested outside KFC, 1805 Jackson St., Thursday afternoon carrying signs decrying the cruel treatment of chickens used by the fast food chain.
A giant, crippled “chicken” crossed the road in front of the store while protesters handed out leaflets. One activist also wore an electronic body screen that played video footage of chickens on factory farms and in slaughterhouses.
The protest was part of an international campaign pressuring KFC to crack down on what PETA calls “cruel treatment of chickens” by KFC suppliers, according to a PETA press release. The organization is calling for KFC to make basic improvements based on scientific research and recommendations from members of KFC’s own animal welfare advisory panel.
