[Seac] Vegetarian/Vegan Earth Week

Hi again everyone.

This is just a little update for all of you fine vegetarian folks out there. As part of our Earth Week(E.W.) events(April 18-23), I mentioned a day about food(wed4/20). We've already confirmed some speakers to come and talk. Sue McIlraith will be giving a speach about Vegan/vegetarian diets and answering any questions you might have. We'll being giving away door prizes such as a year long subscription to Vegetarian Times. That presentation will probably be take place over or near the lunch hour. I'd like to have a strong turnout of vegetarian and non-vegetarian people. Invite any and all of your friends that have questions about these kinds of diets/lifestyles. Other speakers we have ready are: John Peck-->"Free Trade, Food Sovernity, and Globalisation." Cattleana Ranch-->Talks about Community Supported Agriculture(CSA). We're also looking into getting an animal rights activist, possibly from PETA, to come. And to go along with the CSA speaker, we might have a person from UW-Madison come to and talk about their campus dining program and how it incorporates organic, CSA, and vegetarian/vegan food. Another thought we had was asking Sodexho, for that day(4/20), if they could serve primarily vegetarian/vegan type meals and if they'd allow signs or tents about these diets in Blackhawk and Reeve. If you'd like to help, whether it be suggesting a name of a speaker or helping with passing out literature or tabling, contact me. or visit this site: http://www.uwosh.edu/SEAC/News_articles/Earthweekplan.htm

ps. Meatout Day's 20th Anniversary is on March 20. We're trying to organize an event for that day. Maybe on that day we'd have the animal rights speaker instead of on E.W. Planning hasn't started, so any suggestions are welcome. http://www.meatout.org/

peace
