[Seac] Local Audobon needs help

The Winnebago chapter of Audubon is having an ice-cream social on
Feb. 17 at 7:00 in the basement of the Oshkosh Public Museum. Entry
on the High St. side. Free ice-cream!!
If you are concerned about the envinonment, please consider
joining this group and help keep it alive. Audubon is not just about
birds, it's a full spectrum enviro group and the local groups are a
genuine grassroots effort. National Audubon no longer really supports
the the local groups, and due to an aging membership, the Winnebago
chapter is about to close its doors. We've had a lot of really good
monthly programs with great speakers in the past, been involved in
local environmental education projects, especially for kids, maintain
a section of native prairie and Sullivans Woods, and lots of other
things but that's all about to end if we don't get some new blood and
energy.
The loss of an great community asset like this would really be a
shame for the Oshkosh area. In contrast, the Appleton and Fond du Lac
groups are going great, as are most other Audubon chapters around the
state. In this time of serious danger to Mother Earth, what's wrong
with Oshkosh?
Please, join us on Feb. 17 for some ice-cream and discussion.
