[Seac] Re: College Food Project - answer & correction
USRH Food Committee, UW Oshkosh:
First, let me answer a question which I was not able to adequately answer at your last meeting, the meeting of February 2. I was asked which colleges are participating in the College Food Project, and using some of the recommended food sources. For the list of those colleges and universities, and what they are buying, please see:
The College Food Project: Who is Buying?

Now for a little correction and clarification. As a UWO student (not as a representive of any student organization), I attended your last meeting to bring the existence of "The College Food Project" to your attention. The minutes of the meeting, posted yesterday by Marty Strand, recorded my statement as follows:
"Steve Barney stopped by to announce a College Food Project. More information is posted to the food committee from Steve. There are six schools who have joined the organization to date. This is about sustainable food products obtained from local sources. Check it out! Let us know if you are interested."

That is almost, but not quite accurate. My understanding is that The College Food Project is not an organization, but a project of the University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CIAS). This project helps colleges and universities use their buying power to support Wisconsin farms, preferably those local farms and cooperatives that use organic, humane and sustainable farming practices <http://www.cias.wisc.edu/collegefood.php>. Now, as Marty put it: "Check it out! Let us know if you are interested."
Thank you for your attention,
Steve Barney
