GREETINGS FELLOW WAC-IANS
Some of the finer points from Monday's (February 9,2004)OSA meeting:
1. There is $9000 in the University Speakers Series fund to help organizations who would like to bring in speakers next year. The funding request form (I have one) must be filled out and returned to the SLIC speaker series mailbox by March 12, 2004.
2. Terri Gohmann discussed the Titan LEAD Program, which is a Free Leadership Training Program. If you are interested in beefing up your leadership skills, I have more information, and additional brochures can be picked up in the SLIC. The next information session will be Thursday, Feb 12 (today) at 6:30pm in Reeve 215. More information can also be had by calling 424-3100.
3. Don't forget to vote! on Tuesday, February 17. The Salvation Army asks that you bring a canned good to the polls. This is a low-food time of year for them.
4. OSA Elections will be held on March 9-10. Now, seriously, women, there are NO FEMALE OSA OFFICERS. These are WELL- PAID POSITIONS. Please consider running, or encourage your friends to run. Papers will be online at the OSA website this Friday, February 13 at 8:30am.
5. There is a really nice guy walking around campus these days. His name is Andy Robinson, and he is the full time coordinator for the New Voters Project. Andy is here to get students registered to vote, and to facilitate the implementation of various voting projects. For example, next year, when you register for school, or check in at your dorm, or buy your books, you may be able to register to vote at the same time. Doesn't that sound convenient? I think so!
6. Thanks to the Differential Tuition Funding, Academic Advising was able to hire 4 new advisors! This should cut down on the wait time, huh?
That's all for now, fellow WAC-IANS
Until next time-----
Julie Stockwell, YOUR
WAC Student Co-director
and OSA Representative
