First, you might notice some new names on the attendance list! Bob and Justin
came to our meeting to represent SEAC (Environmental Action Coalition), and
the Campus Greens. These two groups are planning several events for the week
of April 19-23 -- Earth Week. On Earth Day (Apr. 22, which is also Emilie's
birthday), they are having "Non-white male day." They thought we would be
interested in co-organizing for a speaker to come. So, we should probably
think on this and get back to them soon, so we could start planning. Other
events that they have planned for the week include an art fair, a secret event
involving a revolutionary energy something-or-other for campus, and there will
also be music all week. So, keep your eyes peeled for further details on these
events!

Also, Bob is the leader of the Winnebago Peace and Justice Center, and he is
interested in holding a training for activism and grass-roots organizing. He
would like to do this after Spring Break sometime, and is asking several
groups to participate. It seemed that many of us would be interested in doing
this. I'm sure more details will follow.

I think we decided to go with Katie Koestner for the speaker for Take Back the
Night. This was the favorite of Robin West, and Helen also said she was
excellent. The next meeting for Take Back the Night is March 2 at 6pm at the
Christine Ann Center. It would be helpful for someone from WAC to attend.

Jess informed us that Diedre McCalle is for sure coming on March 24 at 8pm in
the Titan Underground.

Don't forget about Minnie Bruce Pratt March 10 at 7pm in Reeve 201/2! The
reception for her at the MEC seemed questionable at the end of the meeting.
More details to follow.

Emilie told us that she should have a completed flyer by next week! :)

The Women's History Month calendar came out yesterday! The kick-off is March 2
from 11:20-1 in the Underground. Donna Altepeter will be performing, she's a
jazz singer, and a professor here!
Related, we will have a table in Reeve March 1 to hand out calendars from
11-1:30. It would be great for any and all to stop by and help out for a bit!

You can all still come to the Vagina Monologues tonight at 8:30 in the
ballroom! It's great, and you should all come!

We can first access the display case in Common Ground on March 1. A couple of
us will be meeting at 1pm on March 2 to set things up in there. If you can
come to help, that would be great! Our theme is women inventors, specifically:
the globe, the straw hat/bonnet (the first patent held by a woman), the binary
code, windshield wipers, white-out, and the medical syringe. The purpose is to
create an awareness of the everyday things women have invented!

Don't forget: The treasure position is now open! Interested? Let Andrea or
Julie know.

Next meeting: Thursday, March 4, 3pm, Reeve 207(?)

Peace,
Carolyn
