[WAC-list] minutes

Alright, tried to send this yesterday, but feel like the campus email was
acting up again and it didn't go through.

Meeting April 1, 2004

Attendance:
1. Crystal
2. Emilie
3. Carolyn
4. Lindsay
5. Andrea
6. Danielle
7. Jess
8. Nicole (from SEAC)
9. Renee and Nick
10. Helen

It was VOTED to give $50 to HOPE for the Drag Show on April 14 at 8:30pm in
Albee. This gives us 35 reserved floor tickets, and also a table to set up for
display before and after the show. (It won't be manned, but we'll put up our
tri-fold and flyers, and buttons, hopefully). It would also be great if we
could wear our shirts if we go, to get our name out more.

We came up with 6 different button designs:
1. the WAC logo -- simple and to the point
2. Rosie the Riveter
3. "This is what a feminist looks like"
4. Sisterhood is Powerful" with a fist
5. "Feminism is the concept that women are people"
6. "Well behaved women rarely make history" (like the ever popular bumper
stickers)
We also want to get a little mini WAC logo on the other 5 designs, so it is
more obvious what the button is for. We are thinking of getting 100 of each,
that way we can have lots out at the Drag Show.

Upcoming Events: Queer Eye (April 10)
Earth Week (April 19-24)
Super PRO Volleyball Tournament (April 22)
Roseanne Hoefel Run/Walk (April 24)
Red Cross Run/Walk (May 2)

Justin emailed an events list for Earth Week to the list this week, so I
encourage you all to check it out. There are a lot of interesting events
planned. For our event, which is happening on Thursday, April 22, we will be
showing "Rachel's Daughters." It is a film about survivors of breast cancer
investigating the environmental causes of breast cancer. (A more detailed
explanation is in the attachment from Justin). Can't remember off the top of
my head the time and place, more information coming up.

Fun bowling event Sunday, April 18th- don't forget! More details to come.

For the Future (more brainstorms):
1. Flyers in the Commom Ground. They have a lot of flyers in there already, so
it would be great to expand their diversity beyond racial/ethnic definitions.
Also, maybe we could get a feminist magazine in there.

2. Related to working with other groups: Native and Hispanis Heritage Months
are early in the fall. Perhaps we could sponsor a female speaker for these
months.

Next Meeting:
Tomorrow, Thursday, April 8th. 3pm Reeve 207.

See you there!
-Carolyn
