[WAC-list] WAC meeting minutes from 2/24

Dress Up as Your Favorite Feminist?Scheduled for Tuesday, March 1st in Reeve Concourse from 11am-2pm. We?ll be handing out calendars loaded with events for March. Volunteers needed! Contact Erika (erikastueber@hotmail.com) if you can make it. Come dressed as your favorite feminist! J

 

Family Planning Waiver Week of Action?Pro-Choice Oshkosh (aka NARAL) is holding a tabling event on Mon 2/28, Tues 3/1, and Thurs 3/3 to promote the awareness of the Family Planning Waiver (a waiver giving low-income women free access to reproductive healthcare). Volunteers needed from 11am ? 1pm to table! Contact Erika (erikastueber@hotmail.com).

 

Vagina Monologues?Taking place on Friday, March 3 & Saturday, March 4 in the Foundations Building (the big assembly hall). Time TBA. This is a co-sponsored WAC event. Volunteers needed: tabling for WAC at event; ushering; taking tickets; handing out buttons; hanging up poster prior to the event. Contact Erika (erikastueber@hotmail.com) or Anna (920-285-8999) if you?re interested in helping.

 

Wisconsin Women = Prosperity?This project was designed by Lt. Gov Barbara Lawton to promote/increase leadership in public service for WI women. The Youth Leadership Summit for this cause will be held Monday, March 21 at UW Madison (http://www.wisconsinwomenequalsprosperity.org/yls.html). The cost is $15 (materials, luncheon, breaks). The Wisconsin Women Forward 2005 Convention (http://www.wisconsinwomenequalsprosperity.org/)  will be held Tuesday, March 22 at Monona Terrace in Madison. Cost is $35. Scholarships/waivers for both events are available. Students from WAC & Pro-Choice Oshkosh may be attending, so if you?re interested, contact Erika.

 

Earth Week?April 18-22. SEAC is conducting a fundraiser to raise money for the 34 Million Friends campaign (http://www.unfpa.org/support/friends/34million.htm). They will be doing tabling in Reeve Concourse through March & April from 9am-5pm. Volunteers are needed to do tabling. Contact Nicole (jinxmycat@yahoo.com). We?re also discussing other possible events we may be doing for Earth Week (possible movie with a talkback). We?ll be looking into sponsoring the Campus Green event Our Democracy (with Amy Goodman of Democracy Now radio show & Mike McCabe of WI Democracy Campaign).
