Message-ID: <0JOK006WGSSJ3E90@callisto.uwosh.edu> Dear INTL Listserv Members: URGENT!!! Senator Russ Feingold's office is looking for education and non-education examples of Wisconsinites who have engaged in citizen diplomacy and how it has affected their lives. He needs a brief paragraph from the person explaining what they did (went overseas, hosted an exchange student, etc) and how it changed their world view (for example, "I now look more critically at media coverage, I understand other cultures, I started a new program at my school", etc). Anyone writing a paragraph must write in their email message that they give the Senator permission to speak publicly about their experience. I will gather any messages we receive from UW Oshkosh students and community members tomorrow at noon and forward them. This is very urgent - I'm hoping this has something to do with the S. 991: Senator Paul Simon Study Abroad Foundation Act of 2007, which may alocate millions in study abroad grants to students (this has already been passed by the House but has only been introduced in the Senate). http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=s110-991 It would be great to have responses from students, alumni and community members. Please help find constituents who will respond by noon tomorow!!! Please consider responding yourself - this is not only for students. The JFDP is a non-degree, professional development program intended to provide opportunities for university faculty from Eurasia and Southeastern Europe to expand their knowledge in their field of study and develop new ideas and educational programs through exposure to U.S. academic life. JFDP Fellows help internationalize their U.S. host institutions by bringing cultural diversity and new perspectives in their academic disciplines. During the program, JFDP Fellows may make presentations, give special lectures, co-teach courses or participate in departmental projects, if such opportunities exist. U.S. hosts are asked to provide a faculty advisor who is willing to guide a fellow with academic pursuits related to their field of study, professional networking, and research. JFDP fully funds participants' travel, living, insurance, and professional development expenses. To apply to host JFDP fellows, please complete the online application form found here: http://www.jfdp.org/h_apply.php The application deadline is October 12, 2007. American Councils will send notification concerning application status by the end of October. The JFDP is a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State and administered by the American Councils for International Education. For more information on the program, please visit our website or contact the JFDP office at American Councils. ____________________________________________________ Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP) American Councils for International Education: ACTR/ACCELS 1776 Massachusetts Avenue NW, Suite 700 Washington, DC 20036 Voice: (202) 833-7522 FAX : (202) 293-0037 Email: JFDP at americancouncils.org Web: www.jfdp.org This message was sent to this listserv by: Jenna Graff Office of International Education Dempsey 146 -------- http://www.uwosh.edu/oie/oie.html Phone: (920)424-0775 Fax: (920)424-0185 To unsubscribe from this list, go to http://lists.uwosh.edu/mailman/listinfo/intl From graff at uwosh.edu Thu Sep 20 16:40:37 2007 From: graff at uwosh.edu (Jennifer Graff) Date: Thu, 20 Sep 2007 16:40:37 -0500 Subject: [Intl] "study" abroad opportunities for you Message-ID: <0JOO00IWSS7Q6O30@europa.uwosh.edu> Dear INTL Listserv Members: Now there are "study" abroad opportunities for you, too (don't worry - no need to take the class!).
